Don’t be! There is no need to be home for your scheduled pickup and delivery. In fact, most people prefer to just leave their clothes out for our drivers. So, we talked with our delivery drivers, to come up with some tips!
Our drivers operate on routes across the Kapiti region. Because of this, we don’t offer custom delivery times. We do however encourage you to add detailed pickup or delivery notes to your account. We’re happy to pick up or deliver to a designated spot, such as ‘under the carport’, or at the front/back door, to make this easier for you. This is how most people handle absentee pickups and deliveries.
5 Tips for Leaving Your Laundry Out for Pickup
Tip #1: Keep it simple & consistent
Miscommunication happens when things get complicated.
Instead of:
“On Tuesday deliveries drop off my clothes with my neighbour at 1234 Fake St. Unit B but on
Thursdays deliver to my front door because my neighbour leaves early for yoga class. If you’re
picking up before 11am I’ll be home but if it is after 11am you can pick up my laundry from my other
neighbour – if they’re not out.”
Try:
“I’ll be leaving my clothes for pickup and delivery at the back door. Enter through the side gate and you’ll see the covered back door just up the stairs.”
Tip #2: Choose a Hidden and Covered Spot
We care about your clothes just as much as you and, we would hate to see anything happen to them.
Chose a safe and secure pickup and delivery spot. Choosing a covered spot will help prevent rain or sun from causing any headaches. What good are clean clothes if they’re soaking wet? Our drivers do their best to find cover for your bags on rainy days, and your clothes are delivered in waterproof bags.
Kapiti Dry Cleaning and Laundry Services are only responsible for orders while in our care, so it’s
best to add notes for a covered area to ensure orders are protected against any unexpected weather.
Tip #3: Keep it Clean!
Keeping your laundry pickup and delivery spot clean might not matter much when we are picking up, but it DEFINITELY matters when we’re delivering your clean laundry.
By sweeping or cleaning your designated laundry delivery location, you’re helping us make sure that we deliver your laundry as clean as possible.
Tip #4: Use the Door Hanger
As part of your first dry cleaning pickup, you will receive an over-the-door hanger. This is yours to
keep. This hanger sits over your door and gives our delivery driver a place to safely hang your garments. It’s like a Christmas Wreath hanger.
We encourage you to put your door hanger on your door when you leave your laundry out for us to
pickup. That way, when we deliver your laundry, we don’t need to hang your garments on the door handle or drape them over a chair. If there is no Door Hanger, delivery drivers do their best to deliver the hanging garments with minimal wrinkles.
